A mini bookhaul

Hello, bookworms

I was very bored this Sunday afternoon, I have written three blog posts, created fanfiction, attempted to paint, and even recorded a message to my future self. It is one of those weekends where there is nothing to do, the weather is shit, and everybody is making homework (or procrastinating from making it). I decided to go out and do the best thing possible when bored (or happy, sad, anxious and confused) and went to my local bookstore to buy some books. Sadly, I am a high school student and forever on a budget, so I only bought two books (luckily Christmas is only moderately far away, meaning I can stock up again). These are the books I got!

Seed by Lisa Heathfield

cover seed

Fifteen-year-old Pearl has lived her whole life at Seed, where they worship Nature and idolise their leader, Papa S.

But when a new boy from the Outside arrives, Pearl experiences feelings that she never knew existed and she begins to realize that there is darkness at the heart of Seed. A darkness from which she must escape, before it is too late.

I am reading this book right now, and am so far really enjoying it. The writing style is very unique, and it  fits the story well. Also I love where the plot is taking me. My only complaint so far is the rather cliché relationship between Kate and Pearl, but because I am only at page 89 there is a good chance that might change.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

cover mara

Mara Dyer believes life can’t get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.

She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.

I have read a lot of mixed reviews about this book, and I was doubting whether to pick it up. But I was in the mood for something spooky and all those mixed reviews left me curious about the book.

This was my mini Book haul, I hope you enjoyed

Bye, Sophie

Have you read any of these books, and did you enjoy them?

P.S Both these covers are absolutely STUNNING (especially Seed), thought I just had to put it out there.
